OLDFIELD TOY POODLES, PAPAPOOS & PEEKAPOOS
We have been breeding quality Toy Poodles since the early 1990’s. I think everyone, even if you have never owned one, is familiar with the tiny dynamo that is the Toy Poodle. Poodles come in three recognized sizes, per AKC, Standard, Miniature and Toy. The Toy Poodle being what we raise, although, we do often have what I call Tiny Toy Poodles. I don’t like to call my tinies teacups because I don’t really breed for teacups. We strive for the more average size Toy Poodle, which stands at 10 inches or under with weight being in proportion to their height. We raise mostly cream, apricot and black, with partis and phantoms every once in awhile. I love these latter two, although you can’t show them.
All of our dogs have been home raised as family pets, first and foremost. In some cases we have had three generations of our dogs, having raised the grandparents and parents. So, we know we are giving you the finest, healthiest puppy you can find. We also have some of the prettiest Toy Poodle puppies, you will find, with that beautiful baby doll face and delicate features.
I hate to use the word kennel to describe what I do because, as I say, they are all home raised, but we are a small kennel that concentrates on a just a few quality litters a year. We are located about 60 miles east of Dallas, TX, in the small east Texas town of Grand Saline, on close to 15 acres, with a modern facility with lots of separate fenced- in areas, giving the dogs lots of room to play, in safety. If you are located close enough to us to come and visit our dogs and puppies and pick out your puppy, you are welcome to do so. Otherwise, I will work with you in choosing the puppy that best suits your needs. We have been safely shipping puppies for several years, so you can still obtain one of our wonderful Poodle puppies, even if you are located across the country from us.
All of our Toy Poodles are AKC registered and we strive to maintain the standards set forth in the AKC Official Standards. The only place we stray from these standards is in the Parti and Phantom pups that we have. When you are purchasing/adopting a puppy for pet/companion, it will come with a spay/neuter contract and come with limited AKC registration.
Normally, people who have Poodles in their lives are devoutly devoted to this breed and would own no other dog. And they are deserving of this loyalty. Toy Poodles seem to have all one looks for in a small companion dog. Being non-allergenic makes the Poodle the choice of so many of those that suffer from allergies. Not shedding and not having that “doggie odor” just makes them that must more attractive.
Being such a perfect little dog, they were, of course, the perfect foundation for creating the new “designer” breeds. Since Poodles don’t shed they have to be groomed, so when you mix the Toy Poodle with other equally wonderful breeds you have the makings of the truly perfect dog. Poodle mixes have been around for many years. Cockapoos and Peekapoos are a couple of great examples that have been around for a very long time. Well, I fell into the “designer” breeds quite by accident but I am not the least bit sorry that we had this misstep. It was responsible for one of the greatest dogs, ever, being introduced, the Papapoo (Papipoo), which is a combination of the Toy Poodle and Papillon. It was a true love story of one of my female Toy Poodles falling in love with one of my male Papillons and I have been having a love affair, so to speak, with the Papapoo, ever since, with many satisfied Papapoo owners attesting to their wonderful traits. I think they are the best of the “designer” dogs, due to the superb qualities of these two wonderful breeds. Top intelligence, wonderful temperament, loving, playful and cuddly disposition, along with being low maintenance and easy trainability, make for, what I think, is just about the perfect toy dog.
I mentioned the Cockapoo and Peekapoo, earlier and they are beautiful, sweet natured dogs that many people have grown up with. I got into these two breeds mostly because of requests from people. I have been breeding for so many years and have such a good reputation, with excellent referrals. So, people have called and requested one of these two breeds, having had one as a child. Since we have a male Toy Poodle that Randy had fallen in love with and wanted to keep, but was bigger than what I wanted to use for breeding with my female Poodles, he made an excellent stud choice for the larger breeds. We then ended up rescuing a couple of Cocker Spainel and Pekinese females that were healthy, wonderful dogs and he made an excellent mate for them, in producing our “designer” Cockapoos and Peekapoos. Our Cocker females are retired but we still have a litter of Peekapoos once a year. You might have to wait for one our Peekapoo puppies but they would be well worth the wait and I must say they are extremely wonderful, sweet, pretty dogs, that make great family companions and are good with kids.
As mentioned earlier, all of our puppies are home- raised. We strive to give you the best, healthiest and most well adjusted puppy, you will find anywhere. If I were purchasing a puppy, I would want it to come from the kind of healthy, loving, safe environment that my pups are raised in.
So, when you are ready for that new family member, we will be happy to help you choose, with confidence, the right puppy for you and your family.
A non-refundable deposit will reserve your puppy, till it is ready for its new home. We give a 72 hour vet check guarantee and one year genetic guarantee. We estimate the adult size of every given puppy to the best of our ability, but cannot guarantee the adult size or breeding/show quality. Any puppy being sold as pet/companion and not for the specific purpose of breeding, will be sold with a spay/neuter contract and AKC registration papers (if applicable) will be marked limited.
Stud service is offered to qualified females and for those of our clients that are located more locally, we offer limited boarding.
